So, I took the first half of the mix that I did live (down below) and popped it into ableton so that I could add on to it and work on it when I’m not near my decks. I really like how it worked out, and I got to add a bunch of my (and kevin’s I think) recent favorite tracks to the Mix. Please please, let me know what you think of it and it makes you want to shake your booty.

OK, folks, we have a lot of stuff to cover in a short time: first things first, Trashion Hits Troy! You’ve heard the myths, the legends, the vague rumors of good times happening to bad people + better times happening to great people - well, they are all true. Here is just a taste of what the night has to offer:
+ 7 pm to 9 pm: silent auction + art work by regional artists, with live music from Tedsilk + Skadee
+ 9:15 pm to 11 pm: Trashion! featuring…
- Elizabeth Wunderlich (spoken performance piece + assorted awesomeness)
- Discard Avant Garb Reprise with Mary Panza
- Laura from the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company
- back from japan (music for runways)
- lmnopf + mr. ray (video for strutting)
+ the Designer Showcase has…
- Vanderheyden Hall students
- Michael Maello
- Dawna Johnson
plus the PAPER CHALLENGE (oooh…) and more surprises than you can shake a stick at! All in all, not too shabby of a part one to your epic evening.
After Trashion screeches to an awesome halt at about 11 pm, your friends at The Official Unofficial Troy Night Out Afterparty open those doors to our favorite malcontents + keep it going until the wee wee hours with…
beats:
thejessestiles3000+ (painfully awkward around cutlery - good with a beat, though)
back from japan (went shot for shot with stalin - maybe a metaphor?)
jenks (graduated to the next level of hootenany this past weekend - thanks, devry)
pixels:
lmnopf (powered by cleavers, cleavage + a healthy distrust of fire detectors)
mr. ray (that’s dr. mr. ray to you - thanks, devry)
skfl (making box socials zexy since like forever - please don’t buy him a zima)
—
whew.

i am pretty sure i should be more diligent with my “hey, this whatnot is aces!” posts, but in lieu of that, here’s a video by crystal castles for their track “courtship dating” - if there is something better than this song right now (outside of, say, like satie or mbv or something), then i have not freaking heard it and you have been holding out on me, which is just not something friends do, friend. i’m open - throw me the rock!
here is a taste of some delicious treats i have been finding out on the blogs lately. Some of them old, some of them new. I have been having trouble finding decent stuff out there lately due to the fact that sites seem to post 6 times a day with a whole bunch of stuff, not all of it good.
It gets a bit repetitive, but the main distorted synth line in it is really awesome. I’m a fan of that distorted as all get out lead guitar sound driving these heavy banger tracks.
He can do no wrong! I can’t wait for his “suspense is killing me” EP to drop on mad decent. The bass line in this is its main highpoint, so wait for it.
If this doesn’t get you dancing, I don’t know what will. Sure, Side-chain compression has been done before but I totally love the old happy summer time disco vibe this track seems to carry throughout its entirety regardless of how chopped and swamped it gets by that bass drum.
