From our friends at the Albany Sonic Arts Collective:
Just a quick reminder here for everyone! Yeah, it’s freeeeeezing out there, but why not get cozy and warm tomorrow night with a fantastic evening of solo improv action?!!!? Support some amazing local experimental music, hang with friends, meet new folks, and get inspired!
This one’s gonna be a super great show, one that you won’t want to miss. We guarantee a great time for all, and you’ll be able to check out the amazing UAG gallery while you’re enjoying the music and crowd. And we’re starting early, so you’ll have plenty of time to still make it to the Scientific Maps show down the street or wherever else you might want to spend your Saturday night in Albany!!
SATURDAY JAN.5 at the UAG gallery @ 247 Lark St.
Doors 7pm, Music promptly at 7:30
$5
To recap, we’re having two solo sets tomorrow night. First up will be Jason Cosco (http://jasoncosco.mosaicglobe.com/), a member of both the Grab Ass Cowboys and Death by a Thousand Cuts. Jason will be doing solo turntables, percussion, and electronics. This is a unique opportunity to see Jason work his magic in a solo setting.
Then we’ll have a solo set from Holland Hopson (http://www.hollandhopson.com). This will be Holland’s first local performance since returning to the Capital Region, and is bound to be a very special show. He’ll be performing on clawhammer banjo and electronics. Holland often augments his instruments with custom-designed sensor interfaces and performs with his own highly responsive, interactive computer programs. Holland’s latest recording is “With Hidden Noises” released on Grab Rare Arts (www.grabrarearts.com).
See you there!!!
